What Litematica does with a .litematic file

Litematica is a client mod that loads schematics and helps you place them in the world. A .litematic file keeps the whole build in one file, so you can move it from one instance or world to another.

How to load the file in the game

Copy the .litematic file into the schematics folder of your instance. In the game, open the Litematica menu, load the schematic and place it where the build should start.

If the build uses blocks from a mod, install that mod in the same instance before you load the file. Otherwise those blocks will not appear.

Tips for your first build

Start small, around 32 to 64 blocks wide, to check the colours and the block count before you attempt a large mural.

Read the materials list before you gather blocks, and use the shulker box count to plan your storage.

Frequently asked questions

Which Litematica versions can read the file?

The .litematic format is the one Litematica uses. Use a Litematica version that matches your Minecraft version, because mods are tied to a specific game version.

Should I build a wall or a floor?

Use the wall orientation for a mural seen from the front, which uses the side colour of each block. Use the floor orientation for a map-style design seen from above.

Do I need mods to load the file?

Yes, for the blocks that come from mods. Install those mods in the instance before you open the schematic.

Is there a maximum size?

PackPixel accepts up to 4096 blocks on each side. For very large builds, test with a smaller size first.

Is the materials list in the same file?

No. The materials list is a separate download with the block counts, the stacks of 64 and the shulker boxes.
