How PackPixel works and why it is safe
The whole website runs in your browser. Here we explain what is read from your files, what is stored, what the statistics measure and how you can check it yourself.
Your files never leave your computer
The image, the folder or the .jar files are read on your computer and never sent to any server. PackPixel has no server that receives them.
What is read from your mods and what is stored
From each .jar, only the block states, the models, the block textures, the language files and the mod data (its name) are read. From the instance, only the configuration files that state the version and the loader. It does not look at worlds, screenshots, settings or accounts.
Your browser's storage keeps the calculated palette (names, colors and 16×16 thumbnails) so the calculation is not repeated, and also the language you chose. The palette is deleted with “Use vanilla” or by clearing the site data.
Anonymous statistics, no cookies
The statistics use Umami, hosted by us, without cookies. It only counts anonymous visits and events: a generated plan with its size and whether it is vanilla or modpack; an extracted palette with the number of mods and blocks, the loader and the version; and the exported format. It never counts file or folder names, nor images.
Licenses and the Mojang notice
The mod textures are read only on your computer: they are never hosted or shared. PackPixel is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft, and neither has endorsed or approved it.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the browser say “upload files”?
It is the fixed text of Chrome and Edge when you choose a folder with their picker; the website cannot change it. The files are read on your computer. If you would rather not see it, drop the folder or choose the .jar files, which do not show that notice.
Are my files uploaded to any server?
No. The whole website runs in your browser, and the image, the folder or the .jar files are read on your computer. PackPixel has no server that receives them.
What does it read from my mods?
Inside each .jar, only the block states, the models, the block textures, the language files and the mod data (its name). From the instance, only the configuration files that state the version and the loader. It does not look at worlds, screenshots, settings or accounts.
What does it store in my browser?
The calculated palette (names, colors and 16×16 thumbnails), so the calculation is not repeated, and the language you chose. The palette is deleted with “Use vanilla” or by clearing the site data.
How can I check that nothing is sent?
Open the browser tools (F12), go to the Network tab and load your modpack. You will only see the files of the website itself and, if it is enabled, the anonymous statistics. No request carries your files.
